It is not as much as a hot atmosphere here in Colombo, just 4 days more for the Sri Lanka General Election 2010. Only a three months ago, we saw much more enthusiasm among the supporters of all three major political parties when the presidential election 2010 held. This time, the enthusiasm seems hindered a lot for the Parliamentary Election in Sri Lanka.
Several thousands of candidates gave nominations for General Election 2010, but the race is between the two major political parties, the UPFA and UNP. JVP, which used to be the third political power in Sri Lanka, will contest in alliance with Gen. Sarath Fonseka, under the Trophy symbol. But, most political analysts says they will not be able to do a significant impact to the results of Sri Lanka General Election. 2010 is going to be a remarkable year for Sri Lanka, as the people had the opportunity of selecting the executive president and a new parliament for the first time after ending the 30 years old civil war.
However, everybody awaits for the final outcome of the most important Parliamentary Election to be held on 8th April 2010. The general assessment of most analysts is, it’s going to be a one horse race, and a battle for preferential votes among the ruling UPFA party candidates in most districts. The votes of North-East provinces play a major role in the upcoming General Election in Sri Lanka, as more and more Tamils in that region are expected to caste their vote this time.
Stay tuned to us, for the latest updates of Sri Lanka General Election.
